　5、6年前に描いた「ヒラニヤガルバ」＊という作品や「墓場にいるピカチュウの絵」＊の様な暗青地から描き起こしていく絵を、もう一度描いてみようという試みの絵たちの一つ。

自分は樹とかよく描くし好きではあるのだけど葉っぱとか幹とか、そういった現実の樹のあり様よりも、ある程度離れて感じられる緑色の粒の集まりとしての樹が実際にはより好きなんだと思う。同じ理由で苔とか地衣も好きだ。

普通に風景的な絵の中で樹を描いているとどうしても構造がこうで無いとおかしいとか、ありもしない知識が邪魔をして何となく、その“好き”が描ききれないので、この絵たちでは余りそう言った事を気にせずに自分の中の静的な生き物（植物とか地衣とかカビや菌類）たちに対するこう在ってほしいという願望というか憧れみたいなものを素直に描いている。

画中の月の様なものは「ヒラニヤガルバ（サンスクリットで“黄金の胎児”の意味）」で描いた月で、月には地球の子というか胎児的なイメージがあるのでその様に描いている。

◉ About the Work

This painting is part of an attempt to once again create works starting from a dark blue ground, similar to the piece I painted 5 or 6 years ago titled “Hiranyagarbha”* and the “Pikachu in the Graveyard”* painting.

I often paint trees and I do like them, but I think what I actually prefer more than the realistic structure of leaves and trunks is the feeling of trees as clusters of green particles seen from a certain distance. For the same reason, I also love moss and lichens.

When painting trees in ordinary landscape-style pictures, I tend to get caught up in structural logic (“this has to look this way”) or interfered with by half-baked knowledge, and I can’t fully express that “liking.” In these paintings, I’m trying not to worry too much about such things and instead paint more honestly the desire or longing I feel toward the static living things (plants, lichens, molds, fungi, etc.) that exist inside me — how I wish they would be.

The moon-like object in the painting is the same moon I depicted in “Hiranyagarbha” (Sanskrit for “golden fetus”). I painted the moon this way because I associate it with the image of Earth’s child, or something fetal.
